Worldwide source foundation · v0.5

Local gardening answers need local sources.

TerraEvidence is mapping the climate information and gardening guidance needed before a planting window can be shown responsibly. The first pilots are Texas, the Philippines, and Australia.

What this adds

A source trail before a date.

A country name or hardiness zone is not enough to generate a reliable planting answer. The future tool must preserve the regional source, climate basis, crop, action, review date, and limitations.

Climate context

Frost, extreme heat, wet and dry seasons, rainfall pattern, humidity, elevation, and hemisphere can matter differently by location.

Gardening authority

Government, meteorological, university Extension, and national research sources are recorded with the exact scope each source supports.

Visible limitations

A climate map does not automatically provide a crop date, and a national calendar does not automatically fit every local garden.

Pilot source collections

Three regions test three different planting systems.

Local source review

County sources are baselines; locality resolution still matters.

Orange County is the first county-level pilot. Collin County has a different North Texas baseline, but it remains blocked until its chart is transcribed and a town/local frost-and-weather layer is defined. A county line alone cannot resolve every garden.

County baseline verified · locality method pending

Collin County, North Texas

The Texas A&M AgriLife calendar lists county-level planting periods, distinguishes primary from marginal dates, and states an average last freeze of March 16 and first frost of November 16. Results remain locked until every graphical bar is checked and the selected town or locality can be paired with appropriate frost and weather context.

Philippines

PAGASA climate sources are usable for regional context. PCAARRD’s planting-calendar catalog record is verified, but its PDF redirected to login during review, so catalog metadata cannot support crop dates.

Publication gate

What must be attached to every future planting window.

Place and climate basis

Country, useful subregion, hemisphere, and the climate variables used.

Crop and action

Crop name and local aliases, variety limits when known, and whether the window means start indoors, direct sow, or transplant.

Source and review date

Exact publisher and URL, applicable geography, source date when available, TerraEvidence review date, and contradictions or missing information.

Uncertainty

Microclimate, current weather, soil condition, pest pressure, and other limits that a regional calendar cannot resolve.

Developing foundationNo statewide or zone-based planting dates are generated here.

This directory identifies candidate source collections and their limits. It does not guarantee crop performance, replace current local advisories, or turn a national source into a personalized recommendation.
